Departmental Historical Background :- |

| |
- In 1945, Department of History was established
- In 1945-1969, Department offered History subject as ‘General Level’ subject.
- Since 1969 History subject has been commenced as a “Special” subject.
- Post graduate classes started from 1978 and department introduced ‘Entire History’ in 1982-1983.
- The subject ‘History of Civilization’ introduced in 1978-79 in General Level.

- The major intension to teach history is to inculcate human values i.e. truth, right-contact, love, peace, non-violence.
- To orient the students toward national values i.e. Liberty, Equality, Fraternity, Justice, Democracy Socialism, Secularism, Patriotism, National Integration, Humanism and International Harmony.
- To conduct objective investigations to record historical events.
- To create the awareness about social commitment among the students.
- To develop the unbiased historical research aptitude among the students.
- To create historical knowledge for future generation.
